/ABOUT

Daka Archives is a research-based project that employs 3D animations, storytelling, and archiving techniques to explore cultural memory.

The project aims to bring attention to the enduring strength of marginalised narratives, challenge historical accounts, and counteract the erasure of indigenous heritage. The goal is to engage and learn with and from others. Each entry within the archive enables exploration and documentation of the nuances of Taíno culture that may have been overlooked or lost due to colonialism's adverse impacts. By doing so, it encourages us to rethink how we perceive the past and to reflect on whether the stories that have been erased, forgotten, or ignored will be acknowledged and given space to emerge.
